Choices for fine dining in Downtown Dubai have just stepped up a notch, as there’s a brand-new restaurant in Armani Hotel Dubai.
Housed in the Burj Khalifa, 3BK is now open at the swish Downtown Dubai hotel, dominating the third floor of the property. The restaurant has 250 seats and is the first independent dining destination at the hotel. The 23,500 sq m restaurant was formerly an events space, and it’s been transformed into a chic new restaurant. As with the rest of the hotel, décor is minimalist and classic, using plenty of creams, greys and metallics, while furnishings are modern. There’s also plenty of gold tones, as you’d imagine for such a fancy venue.
Massive floor to ceiling windows allow views out to the Dubai Fountain, while there’s also a terrace for the cooler months. It promises “global flavours”, with a menu coming from head chef Esteban Torregrosa (formerly of Maxzi The Good Food Shop) starring cuisines from Asia, Europe and Latin America. The menu will change seasonally and is sharing-style.
There are raw bar dishes such as red prawn carpaccio, ceviche and tuna tiradito. There’s also a list of sashimi and maki rolls, including spicy prawn tempura, spider and wagyu beef with foie gras and asparagus. Starters include burrata, causa with crab meat, chicken skewers, beef chorizo croquettes, scallops and crispy prawn tacos.
There are veggie mains such as roasted cauliflower with beetroot and carrot, and “all about corn” with cheese. Fish dishes include miso-marinated black cod with Japanese mushrooms, salmon with clam sauce and fried whole sea bass with green plaintains, while meaty mains include Korean-marinated lamb chops, oxtail risotto and baby chicken with pollada sauce. There’s also a range of grills to try.
Desserts include chocolate tart, rice pudding with strawberries and yuzu mess (complete with gold leaf). If you can’t decide what you want, there’s a six-course tasting menu for Dhs350, and an eight-course menu for Dhs450, too. And if you’re after a pre- or post-dinner drink there’s a swish bar area, with an inventive range of mixed drinks using ingredients including elderflower, oriental spices, Mediterranean herbs, caramelised figs, honey, chocolate and even 24 karat gold.
Open Sat-Wed 6pm-1.30am, Thu-Fri 6pm-3am. Armani Hotel Dubai, Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai (04 888 6333).
