If you want to use Meta to reach a wider audience, generate new leads and convert more customers, you may have considered running Meta ads (previously Facebook ads). Facebook is still the preferred place for 97% of marketers to run paid ads. In April 2022, Facebook reports that 2.14 billion people can be reached through ads. Quarter-on-quarter reach grew by 0.5% (15 million). But have you ever run Facebook ads online and felt frustrated because they don’t work as fast as you had hoped?
Many people hope for an immediate return on their investment when it comes to running ads online. They test different text, headlines, landing pages, images, videos, offers, etc. They get hung up in the tactics and think they need to master all of this. Yes, that’s important. But above all, before you start spending money on ads you need to understand one thing 👇
The #1 thing you need to focus on is your mindset.
When you run ads, you are entering a marathon and not a sprint. Sure you might be able to get a quick win or beginner's luck.
We have run ads online since around 2011, and have seen those who get the greatest success are those who stay with it.
These 2 core concepts are key for long-term marketing success:
#1: The Rule of 7
In marketing, there is something called the “Rule of 7”. It is considered to be one of the oldest concepts in marketing, however, that does not mean it is outdated. It states that it takes approx. 7 touch points or times someone hears about your business before they decide to buy. That means if the first time they hear about you is with an ad, they are probably not going to buy… yet.
This rule provides an excellent roadmap for advertisers to ensure their brand gains significant exposure over time to potential customers. It’s essential you maintain visibility so that customers become familiar with your brand so you can build up trust with them.
#2: Brand Awareness
This is your chance to increase your reach and introduce your business to potential customers. Only a small percentage of people who see your ads will be ready to buy. So while it is important to attract buyers, you also want to focus on increasing your brand awareness to get people to remember your brand for when they are ready to buy.
Sometimes as a result of running ads, you might even get referrals from them so make sure your ads provide value.
Remember the importance of warming people up to your brand and what you offer because it can take time for someone to choose to become a customer of yours. You’ve got this ⚡️
